12th-Nov-2008 10:09 am - ~Fandom Guide~
Here is a little guide to go with my Expo posts for those who are not into Japanese culture or Naruto. It is biased and parts are based on fanon as opposed to canon. Some of it is just for the laughs, all of it has a part in the Expo photos. The guide itself has a lot of pictures... because they are pretty. Or might even have a point to them. Motivational posters for humor by [info]momopi

Obligatory fandom warning: If you disagree with any of it, or get sadly offended, go post an LJ entry sulking over it. Make sure to link to this post so I get a lot of trolling and lulz. I like laughing while you cry and you know it.

Yay for little guides! )

You've probably already seen this, and if you have then I hope it touched your heart. If you haven't, take 6:31 of your day to watch this.

Because I am made of fail, I had to take my Sasuke cosplay sandals to a place that did alterations to have a wider elastic sewn on. (Stef, I know you gave me an option with the edging trick, but Michelle lacks an iron.) For £10 they did a better job than I could anyway. So I'll share my trip of dropping off the items and then picking them up!

Backdated as always! This was like the week of.. uhm.. Oct 19th?

That's all for now! I think the next episode is the trip to London (Oct 25-27), and after that the Highland Tour (Nov 2)

20th-Oct-2008 06:04 pm - Happy (Belated) Birthday to Me!
October 11th was my birthday and completely unrelated to that we went into Edinburgh to get the bus tickets to London for the expo. We met up with Roxas at the train station and after the tickets we grabbed a bite to eat at Jimmy Chung's Buffet. The chinese out here is definitely pretty different than back home, even more so than when I was in Kuwait. There was a chicken with hot pepper seeds and stuff, that I can't remember the name of, that I really liked and they don't serve in the states. Also the Maryland Chicken wasn't bad.

After stuffing ourselves we went to Forbidden Planet, a comic book store, and along the way we passed the "Anonymous". It's a group of protesters against Scientology that usually remain, well, anonymous by wearing masks and such at the protests. While I rolled my eyes, as we know how much I care about who worships what, it was slightly amusing to see masked people just shouting silly things across the street at people. We remained at Forbidden Planet for a while then dropped Roxas off at the bus station so she could return home leaving Michelle and I to wander aimlessly. Well, I wandered into a souvenir shop and spent a good $140 on gifts for family and friends.

We grabbed a bus back to Penicuik, I bought myself some alcohol, and proceeded to drink while roleplaying online!

On to the Birthday pictures! )

18th-Oct-2008 07:06 pm - The Adventure in Edinburgh [Edited]
I have been very overdue for another update post, but I have been....busy? hahaha.. not really. The most important thing first! The other day I changed my laptop wallpaper. It is awesome and by [info]momopi!

Sexy background! )

I was practically out of commission last week due to a tooth infection that I noticed on the 5th. First a cold, then an infection! I'm pretty made of fail. On the 8th something was finally done about it and we scheduled an after hours appointment at a dentist in Edinburgh. Chalmers Dental Center. We arrived early and I took pictures to pass the time until they would let us into the building. The people there were quite friendly, even if I couldn't understand everything that was being said. The dentist himself was AWESOME. I want to take him home to replace my dentist. He actually LISTENED to me and we discussed the cause of the infection. Other than an exam, he handed me the antibiotics I needed so much and sent me on my way. The best part? It cost $0 for all of it!

Also, I must have the obligatory Taste of Scotland part. You know you care! Check out these fine products:

6th-Oct-2008 02:42 pm - Sickly!
I started getting a cold friday night! I've been pretty sick since, but on Saturday I still walked to the store in the rain to get cold medicine and tissues (and a few other things for the household) because I am pretty insane. Actually I really needed the tissues and medicine and didn't realize it was raining until I opened the door to leave. (I know, I should have sent Michelle! ;D )

The annoyance is that while sick my lungs hurt worse now that I quit smoking than they did when I still smoked. It is making the cigarette counter at the store look friendly really. (So does the idea of trying some out here!) I can't though.. I must resist. I don't get cravings very often though. Usually only when I walk past the counter in the store or after eating dinner. The rest of the time I don't really crave it for the most part.

Friday we got the tickets to the expo at the end of the month in London. I haven't done much else really yet aside from eating different types of food and just chilling (lol irony it's cold out here too) in the house. I need to nag Michelle and/or her bro to take me to a pub! Hopefully one with a british pool table so I can get a picture of it. I know the pub down the street has a pool table or something, but I don't want to go by myself. Michelle claims it's full of old men too, although I see some guys smoking outside that are probably younger than me.

Next week I'll probably go into the actual city of Edinburgh. We have to in order to buy coach (bus) tickets for the journey to London anyway.

"I cannot stay my hand
from reaching out so that I can

Today is the first day I've noticed it raining, and it's storming pretty bad right now. I think I've finally settled in a bit here and that is a nice thing. Oddly from what I've seen, Scotland reminds me a lot of New England.. specifically Newport, RI. If you've never been there, then you suck.

I am going to get sooo fat! I thought I'd lose weight here, but I find myself trying everything to see how it tastes and I don't get anymore exercise than usual right now even if every other day I'm walking to the grocery store for one reason or another.

Food Comparison )

I CANNOT FIND LIQUID CREAMER! What atrocity is this?! How can there be no liquid creamer! Powdered is just nasty most of the time.

I saw a lebanese and a malaysian restaurant that I want to go to at some point in Edinburgh. More food for me to eat, at least then I'd be walking around too. My mom should be outraged that I'm willingly washing dishes to help out. Haha! She can't even pay me to do that at home without whining.
